Thing #22 - Staying Current

I have enjoyed learning many new things through this journey and there is much more that I want to revisit and go over and into deeper detail. The things that I have enjoyed most and will use alot are: Big Huge Labs, Image Chef, Picture Trail, Flickr, Facebook, and Youtube. I know these are the more "fun" topics that were covered but I know I will get alot of use out of them and that is the importance of learning something is the promise that it will be "used."

Thing #21 - Student 2.0 Tools

These are very useful tools students can access to assist them in preparing a research guide and timeline for projects as well as assisting in the planning and navigation of the research process. Nice to know about these tools.

Thing 20 - Books 2.0

There was sooooo much to grasp in this Thing. I've spent the better part of the week going in and out of the various sites reading up on whats out there...and its ALOT! The future of the printed book is certainly looking grim as we see "books" on hand held devices, phones, pc's, etc. But no matter in what form, the importance still lies in the desire and ability to read; when that dies we are all in trouble!

Thing #19 - Other Social Networks

Wow!; there is definitely something for everyone...and then some! I looked at several different social networking sites; some were interesting others were just "blah". Shelfari looked really cute; a neat way to "display" your most favorite of reads and I posted a badge for Library 2.0. At some point I'll look further at some of the sites that I just quickly popped into but didn't spend alot of time touring.

Thing #18 - Facebook & MySpace

Oh nooooo; I can already tell that I could get addicted to Facebook! Needless to say, I opened a "page" and already have many friends tagged...one could spend hours looking at friends' pages, pics, and what friends are tagged to their page. So far, I really like Facebook. I did have a Myspace page in the past and didn't like it; too much "stuff" on it (to put it mildly.) I watched the common craft video and looked at the numerous library pages throughout the 2 sites. This has been an interesting project.

Thing #17 - Podcasts

Watched "Podcasting in Plain English" and took a look at Podcast.com to which I subscribed and attached a widget; also toured Yahoo Podcasts and listed to several podcasts from there also. I don't know if it was just me, but I thought I would blow a gasket trying to deal with my podcast folder, adding podcasts, selecting podcasts, etc. Anyway, this was definitely not my favorite "thing" to work with.
